The Fundamentals of Pilates Mat

The mat is the foundation of the Pilates movement and exercises, which develop the mind and body connection through the breath. As Joseph Pilates stated, if you learn anything in the practice of Pilates, learn about the importance of the breath.

In this group-training course (Levels I, II, III), we will explore the fundamental role of the breath and vital life energy. As well the fundamental understanding of positioning, centering and breathing are also taught within the frame of the course.

The Theory of Pilates Reformer

The reformer complements the mat and teaches the movement principles of Pilates. These principles are an essential aspect of the foundation of the Pilates exercises, which assist to balance the musculoskeletal structure and improve the overall postural alignment of the spine and body.

This group-training course (Levels I, II, III) applies the nature of the reformer to adopt the movement principles of Pilates. The fundamental movements and exercises are supported by the weight of the carriage, shoulder and headrest of the reformer.

Introducing the smaller Pieces of Pilates Equipment (circle, barrels)

The smaller pieces of Pilates equipment serve as an intermediate connection to the core of the body, which includes the deep breathing muscles and accessory muscles of the body.

This group training course (Series I, II, III) deepens the understanding of the mechanics of breathing as well as the role of the accessory muscles during Pilates movements/exercises. In particular, the circle and barrels serve as a bridge to connect the postural alignment of the body.

The Dynamics of Three-Dimensional Movement
